ABOUT US

Kuntala Kumari Sabat Women’s College come into existence on the 1st day of July 1960 by the local elite with a view to promoting higher education for girls in Balasore. It was first named as Women’s College, Balasore . It started under a private management as a degree college with teaching facilities in humanities only. The state government took over the management of the college from 01.10.1965. Subsequently the college was named after the illustrious . Oriya Poetess and Doctor Kuntala Kumari Sabat on 24.07.1976. Science faculty was introduced in the college in the year 1996. From the academic session 2001-2002, stream has been functioning independently as K.K.S. Women’s junior College and is affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa +3 curriculum with provision for honours teaching in nine subjects leading to B.A degree is affiliated to Fakir Mohan University, Balasore. The college has been included in section 2 (f) and 12(b) of the U.G.C.Act and listed in the U.G.C. Directory of recognized institution at Sl No- 15 of page 437. It has been accredited with B+ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore in February 2006, which adds to the glory of the institution.

The college has thus grown from a humble beginning to its present status. It has successful been promoting higher education for women in the state for the last 50 years. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee with pomp and grandeur last year (2011)

LOCATION :

The College is located on the east side of Balasore town, 200 kms from the state capital Bhubaneswar, and 250 Kms from Kolkata. It is well linked with other parts of the state and the country by roadways and railways. The college is 4Kms from National Highway No-5 and 2 Kms from the Balasore Railway Station, on the East Coast Railways.

The college aims at providing quality education, transforming the students into good citizens by inculcating all values and virtues in them and moulding their mind and character to face the challenges of life.

VISION

The college cherishes to make it an abode of excellence with its developing infrastructure the college not only dreams of promoting academic excellence among the young girls but also desires to prepare them for their future life with all feminine virtues. Beside, it envisions to make the courses taught more participating and career oriented. Implementation of education to real life situation is however the basic vision of this institution.
